If you are interested in where your food is grown, how it’s grown, who grows it, and that they receive a fair wage for their labor, then you have a lot in common with the produce department here at Harmony. I’m Lisa, Produce Manager and during the past eleven years, I’ve grown to become truly passionate about providing a full line of fresh, nearly 100% organically grown produce to our community.
What really excites me about this department is our commitment to sourcing our produce from actual farmers. We receive the majority of our fruit and vegetables from a cooperative distributor whose mission is similar to our own – strengthening the network of small, independent organic farmers, many of whose families have been caring for the soil for generations.
If you stop in during the summer and fall, you’ll see a wide array of local produce grown by farm families within our own region – and that’s truly what it’s all about: providing the freshest, most wholesome food from our neighbors to our neighbors.
